About the role

RBC is hiring an AI Developer Intern for a four-month Winter 2027 student placement in Group Risk Management. The intern will help build practical AI solutions for risk management workflows, including generative AI, machine learning and deep learning applications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to AI solutions from initial design and proof of concept through production deployment.
• Work with business users to translate needs into technical problems and refine solutions based on feedback.
• Develop practical applications that address business challenges.
• Keep current with AI developments and share knowledge with the team.
• Present technical solutions and project updates to peers and senior management.

Qualifications

• Experience prototyping generative AI applications with LLMs, transformer models, related frameworks and vector databases.
• Experience with prompt engineering and Python 3.x development.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems, software engineering practices, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, statistics or a related field is preferred.
• Additional experience with model fine-tuning, MCP, LLM evaluation, production deployment, ML frameworks, regulated environments or financial risk management is an asset.

Placement details

This is a full-time, four-month placement from January through April 2027. Applicants must be returning to school after the work term or require the full placement to graduate. The successful candidate must be located in Ontario. Virtual, hybrid or in-office arrangements will be discussed with the hiring manager.
