Position Overview:Seeking a compassionate, professional, and experienced Addiction Counsellor to join our dedicated team. You will provide trauma-informed, evidence-based counselling services to clients recovering from substance use disorders, supporting them through our residential program.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a caseload of 5-6 clients.
- Conduct individual counselling sessions using motivational interviewing, CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices.
- Lead group sessions, workshops, and educational groups covering addiction, relapse prevention, coping skills, trauma, and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with staff to create individualized treatment and recovery plans.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries clearly and in compliance with CARF standards.
- Monitor clients' mental health, physical wellness, and overall progress, coordinating additional supports as needed.
- Facilitate family sessions and communication when appropriate to enhance the client's support network.
- Actively participate in case consultations, interdisciplinary meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:- Diploma, degree or certificate in Addictions & Mental Health, Counselling, Social Work, Social Service Work, or Human Services related field. Registration with CACCF, CRPO or OCSWSSW registration required.
- 2 + Years of experience of field experience.
- Lived experience with addiction and recovery a strong asset and heavily preferred.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, concurrent disorders, addiction, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical, confidential, and culturally sensitive practice.
Preferred Experience:- Open to holistic, non-12 Step recovery approaches.
- Familiarity with virtual counselling platforms and telehealth practices, or willing to learn.
- Lived experience or a deep understanding of addiction recovery.
Working Conditions:- Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Compensation:- $28-$38/hr
