Job Opportunity: Administrative Support – Lands and Resources Office (LRO)Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nation
The Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nation Lands and Resources Office (LRO) is excited to invite applications for a full-time administrative position to cover a maternity leave, with the potential to grow into a permanent role within the department.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and impactful team working across a wide range of initiatives that support the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations. The role involves engaging with work that may include political and culturally sensitive matters, requiring professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
This full-time position (35 hours per week) will earn $25-32 per hour based on experience and qualifications and is based near the beautiful oceanfront town of Port Hardy, offering an inspiring coastal setting to live and work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide organization and administrative support to the Lands and Resources Office and field crews
- General administration duties, including:
- Creating purchase orders, invoices, and cheque requests
- Filing and maintaining records
- Coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes
- Guardian Program:
- Maintain schedules, provide administrative support, and assist with coordinating training
- Referrals/Forestry:
- Maintain detailed referral records and databases
- Coordinate and document family meetings
- Develop presentations and reports for Council
- Fisheries:
- Provide administrative support to the Fisheries Crew
- Assist with issuing permits and submitting mussel samples
- Support food fish distribution efforts
- Perform additional duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate Will:- Have a strong understanding of and connection to Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations Peoples and traditional territories
- Be organized, adaptable, and able to manage a variety of responsibilities in a respectful and professional manner
Requirements and Assets:- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and related programs)
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Criminal Record Check
