Position OverviewThe Emergency Management Analyst plays a key technical role in the performance of projects within the Emergency Preparedness and Response team, structured within the Calian Nuclear division.
The analyst will be supporting a variety of technical projects for both nuclear-specific threats as well as all-hazards by preparing plans and procedures, developing and conducting all levels of exercises, delivering training and producing technical reports.
Responsibilities- Perform and support technical project work for Calian’s customers.
- Support the development of high-quality technical reports and documents, including the preparation of emergency management (preparedness, response, recovery) plans and procedures.
- Act as a resource to the Manager in support of developing business opportunities and proposals.
- Ensure all project deliverables are developed and maintained in accordance with the Calian Nuclear Quality Assurance Program (QAP).
- Participate, as part of a project team, in conducting technical analyses.
- Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners.
- Develop and propose methods and approaches to support direction provided by more senior team members.
- Take on increasing levels of responsibilities for the performance of project tasks and liaison with the customers.
- Provide support for any and all training exercises and facilitation activities with clients.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or Graduate Degree or Diploma in Emergency Management with 2+ years of experience
- At least 2 years experience working in a Business Continuity Planning role. ABCP or CBCP designation would be considered an asset.
- Experience in designing, delivering and evaluating exercises.
- Experience with the development of emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation route planning.
- Experience with performing hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) / hazard risk vulnerability analyses (HRVA).
- Experience with security programs (physical, cyber, data and/or personnel).
- Experience with risk/threat assessments.
- Experience in presenting and/or facilitation to large groups.
- Completion of ICS training, up to I-300.
- Emergency management experience within the nuclear industry will be considered a strong asset.
- Certification as an ICS Instructor through ICS Canada would be considered an asset.
- Certification as a Certified Emergency Manager would be considered an asset.
Additional Requirements- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to articulate concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated ability in technical report writing.
- Must be eligible to obtain Government of Canada Secret security clearance.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from one of the following locations: Ottawa, Toronto, or Saskatoon.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% as required.
