OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our heavy duty and automotive store. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical management. The Assistant Manager will play a key role in driving sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining efficient store operations.
Duties- Assist with all aspects of shop operations and general business.
- In the absence of the store owners, the assistant manager will be responsible for the entire operation of the shop.
- Assist with inventory management by organizing and ordering stock levels and customer parts.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and gain monthly exposure to financial reporting.
- Help identify and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and customers with open work orders.
- As a delegate, assign duties and responsibilities to associates, provide necessary feedback and direction, and ensure they’re following all policies and best practices.
- Ensure every customer leaves satisfied by processing requests promptly.
- Participate in all safety initiatives, as required or assigned, to ensure safety at Westech Diesel.
- Complete all required paperwork and file it as needed.
- Support customer relationships by promptly responding to inquiries or concerns.
- Coordinating appointments and bookings for heavy-duty and automotive services.
- Review work orders for accuracy and completeness before billing customers. Ensure timely invoicing.
- Maintain close communication with all departments, technicians, employees, and support staff.
- Schedule and assign jobs to technicians.
- Assist with customer reminders, updates, quotes, and MVI renewals, among other tasks.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with your peers, management, and customers.
- Assist with marketing and promotions, including website and marketing design.
- Review and advise on parts and tire sales.
- Review customer profiles, accounts, and maintain positive customer relationships by making reminder calls.
- Maintain an accurate and efficient filing system for CVSE reports, inspections, and customer work orders.
- Answer phones, take messages, and help with errands.
- Assist with after-market sales.
Skills- Proven leadership and team management experience within retail settings.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and develop staff effectively.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic math skills for bookkeeping purposes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
- Experience in sales management, merchandising, pricing strategies, and marketing is preferred.
- Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, payroll processing, and employee training & development.
- Strong negotiation skills for vendor relations and purchasing negotiations.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
