Job description:Reporting to the Finance Director or Finance Manager, the Associate Finance Manager is a key role within the finance team that provides financial management services to various Canadian and International Public-Private Partnership Projects (P3s) and holding companies.
This position supports the finance function in the effective delivery of the obligations and reporting requirements of the P3 projects and holding companies.
Key responsibilities:- Oversee full cycle accounting, including debt, distributions, financial instruments, taxes, accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll and other financial processes, working closely with staff and management accountants;
- Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to stakeholders;
- Prepare and present annual budget to stakeholders;
- Supervise production of and review required financial and other contractual compliance deliverables within agreed timescales, actively managing companies’ corporate calendars;
- Lead year end audit engagements, liaising with external auditors;
- Ensure compliance with tax policies and timely submissions of tax deliverables
- Update financial models and analyze/propose investor distributions;
- Ensure compliance with covenants, ratios and other requirements of the Senior Financing documents;
- Assist with management of Treasury, including administering bank accounts, maximizing interest and managing cash flow;
- Support strong working relationships with the project/company investors, public sector clients, funders, advisors and Vercity colleagues;
- In the absence of the Finance Director or Finance Manager, provide the senior finance lead for the project/company;
- Other duties as required.
Required:- Located in Victoria, BC or Toronto, ON
- CPA designation preferred;
- A minimum of three years experience in an intermediate‑level or managerial-level accounting/finance role, with demonstrated career progression and increasing responsibility;
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and IFRS reporting standards;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills;
- Experience presenting/interacting with senior executives or board of directors considered an asset;
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills both independently and within a team environment.
