Canada Summer Job for YOUTH

8 weeks, 35 hours per week, $18.00/hr.

The peer support assistant will work closely with the members our Centre serves by providing an inclusive environment developing leadership skills, reducing individual isolation and learning about rights and responsibilities of individuals with disabilities.

The candidate will be directly supervised by the Peer Support Worker and will have weekly meetings with the Executive Director to review overall job performance to provide coaching opportunities and professional development.

The candidate will work closely with the Peer Support Worker to design weekly programs based on arising community needs to facilitate & accommodate the sector we serve. They will shadow the staff & work together to identify gaps in services, creating new options or helping existing services become inclusive while sharing ideas and experiences to build essential skill sets. The candidate will also have the opportunity to be coached in developing unique programs.

The candidate will not only work with the Peer Support Worker but will also be part of our work team culture and interact with the Organization's staff to ensure overall goals are met daily. The candidate will work with others utilizing all of the Centre's resources to develop problem solving skills using team approach tactics.

As a navigation Centre we are highly involved in building an inclusive and accessible community for all; the candidate will assist in developing campaigns to grow awareness about our agency and the programs we offer in all the communities we serve.

The candidate will obtain a meaningful work experience & will be able to develop many essential skill sets transferable to different working environments.

The candidate will develop highly effective communication skills by being provided with the opportunity to attend speaking engagements, participate in roundtable discussions, planning tables and work groups.
