New Westminster Schools Career Opportunity CARPENTER TRADES IIJob Function:- Reports to the Maintenance Manager, or designate
- Performs a variety of skilled and other tasks related to maintenance and repair of school district buildings, grounds and equipment under minimum supervision
- Performs carpentry assignments ranging from minor repairs through to skilled journeyman work of design and manufacture of a variety of items
- Repairs such items as doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, etc.
- Builds and/or assist in the construction of offices, classrooms, furniture, etc.
- May include the maintenance of work quality and accuracy
- May involve the coordination of work, including the assignment of work and personnel
- Assists other trades as required
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:- Grade 12 or equivalent
- BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Carpentry work (TQ)
- Valid B.C. driver’s license
- Ability to perform a standard of workmanship at a tradesman’s level
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the trade
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and the community
Hours of Work & Salary:Temporary position working 40 hours per week, 7:00a.m. – 3:00p.m., Monday – Friday, at $40.70 per hour
