Role summary
Support the emotional, social, and behavioural development of K–12 students experiencing personal, social, or behavioural challenges. Work with school staff, families, and community agencies to help foster safe, inclusive, and supportive school environments.
Reports to the Director, Inclusive Learning, and works under the direction of the District Counsellor and District Coordinator. Participates as a member of a team supporting students with social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges.
Qualifications
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Child and Youth Care Diploma, Associate Degree, or Community Social Service Worker Diploma.
- A bachelor's degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care is preferred.
- At least two years of supervised, recent, relevant experience working with children and youth.
- Experience supporting at-risk school-aged children and youth and running groups with children and youth.
- Valid B.C. driver's licence and safe driving record; must transport students in a personal vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with families, community members, and school personnel.
- Interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to follow school and community protocols.
- Physical ability to perform the duties, and knowledge of WCB, WHMIS, and safe work practices.
