Our premises are within the Purdy's Wharf complex which provides amenities such as an on-site daycare and a fitness centre. Our office is connected to the downtown pedway system and situated on Halifax's beautiful waterfront providing easy access to ferry and bus transit hubs, banks, restaurants, and shopping.
The opportunityPosition SummaryWorking collaboratively within the client services team and reporting to the Senior Manager, Client Services, the Client Service Consultant delivers pension administration services through a team of professional, talented, and dedicated individuals. We are committed to serving the best interests of our members by delivering a consistent experience that is guided by our service standards. We work effectively in a team environment where mutual accountability and positive results are measures of success.
In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service to our active and retired members. You will respond to member inquiries concerning benefit eligibility and Plan rules and perform complex calculations based on our expert-level knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation. Our team promotes awareness and education to Plan members across the province by facilitating information sessions.
What you need to be successful- Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience includes customer service in a professional and/or high call volume environment, including pension, benefits or insurance administration or a similar industry.
- Excellent communication skills as well as effective presentation skills. Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
- Working knowledge of pension and benefit plan text, Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), the Income Tax Act and other provincial and federal programs and legislation.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite, database applications, and email group applications.
- A Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (C.E.B.S.) designation or Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) are considered assets.
In addition to the interview, qualified candidates will be required to prepare and deliver a 5-7 minute PowerPoint presentation on a topic related to pensions/benefits/retirement.
Job Status: Permanent Full Time; unionized (NSGEU)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $2871.62 - $3349.27 (bi-weekly)
