ROLE OVERVIEWThe Clinical Assistant performs a range of office and support activities for the clinic while assisting the physicians with procedures. The Clinical Assistant will support the physicians by rooming patients, preparing them for treatment, answering patient questions before and after treatment, and acting as a patient care coordinator; additional duties will include routine clerical duties, such as booking treatments, processing payments, documentation, data entry, and/or word processing work as assigned.
YOU WILL:- Performs assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients, including assessments, medical history, vitals, and appropriately recording information in the EMR.
- May perform initial patient consultation under the direction of the physician.
- Charting patient information and procedures under the direction of the Physician
- Assist physician with Ultrasound procedures.
- Assist in the implementation and growth of new patient services.
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms.
- Assist in coordinating the flow of patients within the clinic.
- Work collaboratively as a team with other on-site clinicians.
- Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
- Orders, stock, medical supplies.
- Making reminder calls for procedures and providing preparation for procedure instructions.
- Making follow-up calls the day after procedures.
- Must recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations.
- The role requires outstanding communication skills and emphasizes soft touches to meet a concierge level of care and attention to detail.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
YOU HAVE:- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- IV and Phlebotomy skills an asset.
- Previous experience with ultrasound an asset.
- Current BLS.
- A strong knowledge and use of Computers (Word, Excel, Email)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Previous Experience with Telus PS Suite (EMR) is considered an asset.
