Position DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice and Nursing Development, you will provide nursing clinical practice expertise with a patient-centered & evidence-informed focus to support nursing excellence corporately. In a key strategic and clinical practice leadership role, the Clinical Practice Supervisor (CPS) provides leadership, direction, and professional oversight to a dynamic staff team across all sites working closely with the programs, directors, managers and physicians. As an integral member of the Nursing Professional Practice leadership team, the CPS is an innovative clinical expert with leadership, clinical care and academic responsibilities. The Clinical Practice Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supervising clinical and professional practice and developing and supporting professional expertise in patient care by providing leadership and consultation, acting as a resource for staff, mentoring and coaching, monitoring performance, ensuring quality staff educational programs along with manager on-call responsibilities. With a focus on quality and patient safety, the CPS ensures that the daily delivery of services is provided according to the highest professional practice standards and regulatory requirements and that all aspects of services are fully integrated to meet the needs of those we serve. The CPS, in consultation with managers, directors and other practice leaders, works closely with their team to: develop and integrate professional standards, ensure integration of collaborative, patient-centred care into daily practice, facilitate professional involvement in quality, education and research initiatives, align professional goals with the strategic directions of St. Joes, College of Nurses, and their profession, promote the profession with external partners, and acts as a resource to programs and the organization for clinical practice matters involving the professions.
In addition the CPS will support the coordination and success of Ministry funded Nursing initiatives including Clinical Externs, Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEPE), and the Clinical Scholar Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree preferred or in progress
- CNA Certification in relevant nursing specialty preferred
- Membership in nursing professional association preferred
- At least 5 years of relevant clinical experience
- Demonstrated excellence in nursing practice within relevant nursing specialty area and in education
- Knowledge of Quality based procedures, care pathways, and best practice guidelines
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant health legislation and standards of practice
- Commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline: professional practice, education, & research
- Strong clinical and theoretical background within specific clinical area(s)
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership in nursing clinical practice
- Experience in developing policies and procedures
