Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Barrie. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in CNC programming and machining, enjoys hands-on work, and is motivated to develop into a Tool Maker role over time. You will work on CNC and manual machines, build fixtures, support mold maintenance, and progressively take on tooling and mold work under the guidance of our experienced team. This role combines day-to-day machining with a clear development path — ideal for someone who wants to keep learning and take ownership.
DutiesCNC Programming & Setup- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Haas CNC mills and lathes.
- Select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds for plastic and metal materials.
- Set up machines including fixturing, tooling, and offsets.
- Prove out programs and validate first-off parts.
Manual Machining- Operate manual lathe and milling machines for precision work.
- Manufacture one-off and prototype components.
- Perform modifications to existing parts as required.
Quality & Inspection- Verify components meet specifications using precision measuring tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Record and document inspection results.
- Support troubleshooting of dimensional and fit issues.
Tooling & Fixture Development- Design and manufacture assembly, machining, and QC fixtures.
- Support production with custom tooling solutions.
- Assist engineering with design-for-manufacturing improvements.
Mold & Equipment Support (Development Area)- Assist with mold repair and modification work under guidance.
- Support general machine and equipment maintenance.
- Support troubleshooting of tooling and production issues.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement- Develop and maintain setup sheets and work instructions.
- Manage CNC program documentation and revision control.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
Collaboration- Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Support new product development and validation activities.
- Assist with troubleshooting of molding and secondary operations.
Experience- 3+ years of CNC machining experience (Haas preferred) in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience programming CNC mills and lathes (conversational or G-code).
- Solid skills on manual lathe and milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators).
- Familiarity with fixture design and manufacturing is an asset.
- Exposure to injection mold components, mold repair, or tool & die work is a strong plus.
- Willingness and motivation to grow into a Tool Maker role over time.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and hands-on work ethic.
Development PathThis position offers a structured path to grow into Tool Maker responsibilities, including mold repair, tooling design, and advanced fixture work. You will be mentored by experienced colleagues and gradually take on more complex tool and mold projects as your skills develop.
