Job Information

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Child and Family Services in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and ministerial directives of TCSA and the GNWT.
• Receive, investigate, and assess child protection concerns and complaints, and determine if a child is in need of protection.
• Provide voluntary and mandated support services to children, youth (including those 16+), families, and individuals, including crisis intervention when required.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and review case plans and plans of care, including coordination of services, referrals, and placements within and outside the territory.
• Prepare, coordinate, and participate in court processes, including documentation, presentations, and consultation with legal counsel.
• Assess, recruit, support, place, and monitor foster homes and foster care placements, including completion of home studies and required documentation.
• Support community development and prevention initiatives through participation in needs assessments, program delivery, workshops, and community meetings.
• Provide after hours emergency social services, respond to crisis calls, and participate in data collection, reporting, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Key Qualifications:

• A relevant Degree (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology) AND
• One (1) year of experience in Child Protection.

OR

• A Social Work Diploma AND
• Two (2) years of experience in Child Protection.

Additional Requirements:

• Class 5 Drivers License.
• Must be able to obtain a Child Protection Statutory Appointment within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain it.
