NOW HIRING: Residential Care Worker (RCW) In Vanderhoof, BCTuson & Associates Ltd has Part-Time | Full - Time Positions available
Starting Wage: $24.00 per hour with benefits after 6 months probation
Work Schedule: Day Shifts / Night Shift (can be flexible in hours)
We are looking for compassionate and dependable Residential Care Workers to join our home-based team. You will be supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:As an RCW, you will support individuals to live meaningful, comfortable, and enjoyable lives by assisting with:
- Providing personal care and attending to ADL's including but not limited to: meals via G-tube, meal prep and planning, catheterization, incontinence care, oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, application of hearing aids transfers using appropriate mechanical lifts
- Medication administration (both orally and via G-tube
- Physical activity: ROM exercises, bike rides, walks, swimming, application of AFO leg braces and wrist splints, standing frame
- Supporting health needs and attending professional appointments when required
- Household tasks and maintaining a clean, safe home
- Behavioural support using positive and respectful strategies
- Community Inclusion: work programs, social events, regular outings, recreational activities as well as church attendance
- Daily documentation (Share Vision, incident reports, expense tracking)
- Scheduling/planning activities
- Work with minimal supervision in the private household where the care is being provided
- Be able to maintain a consistent routine
- Promote/support a healthy lifestye which includes diet, exercise and emotional well being
- Travelling to medical appointments or for vacations, adult summer camps, etc
- Deaf/blind intervention: utilizing methods and techniques that provide the best opportuntiy for the person you're supporting to compensate for vision and hearing loss
What we are looking for:- Ability to follow care plans, safety protocols and behavioural supports
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable supporting personal and medical needs
- Willingness to learn G-tube feeding, catheterization, seizure management through provided training
- Valid Class 4 or lCass 5 BC driver's licence (required)
- Willingness to learn and safely operate a wheelchair van (training provided)
