The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

Hours per week: 20 hours per week
Compensation: $21.00 per hour
Position PurposeThe Constituency Relations & Projects Lead is responsible for coordination between the AMS and its Constituencies, supporting student leadership, and advancing initiatives of the AMS President’s Office. The position assists the President and the Executive in maintaining collaborative and effective relationships with AMS Constituencies working on furthering student life and building partnerships at UBC. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the AMS is connected with AMS Constituencies across campus, is actively working with Constituency executives in addressing concerns, assisting them in navigating AMS processes and systems and connecting them with appropriate contacts and resources.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate Constituency-related and collaborative events and projects for the Executive Committee
- Provide proactive support and oversee initiatives for supporting AMS Constituencies
- Attend President’s Council and work closely with Constituency Presidents, providing administrative support and problem-solving
- Attending Constituency Council meetings as and when required
- Assist with projects and presentations
- Assist with the delivery of major AMS events such as the Annual General Meeting
- Lead coordination of the “Constituency of the Year” competition
- Advise the Executive on both operational and strategic items in relation to AMS Constituencies
- Uphold the AMS’s mission, values, constitution, and Strategic Plan
- Work with the rest of the team on Presidential Projects, Policy Reviews, and Strategy
- Administrative and other duties as required by the President
Qualifications and Experience- Must have experience as part of one of the following at a minimum:
- Served as an executive or AMS representative of an AMS Constituency (preferred) or
- Served as a direct deputy to an AMS Constituency executive (i.e. AVP)
- Must be a currently registered student at UBC Vancouver or one of its affiliated colleges
- Must be able to work flexibly, adapting to the different needs and limitations of each project
- Must proactively initiate cross-portfolio communication
- Strong public relations, teamwork, and organization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Organized, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Experience with large - scale project management and event planning/coordination preferred
- Proven track record of showing initiative and maintaining confidentiality
- Able to work both in a team and individually
- Able to multitask and manage several projects with widely different themes
- Interest in community building is an asset
