Dynamic retreat and conference centre seeking cook for banquet-style food services Sorrento Retreat and Conference Centre in the South Shuswap region of British Columbia is seeking a cook for our food services team. A typical week includes continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is prepared and served banquet-style. Cooks are encouraged to develop their own recipes based on our clients’ needs. Kitchen staff work in a fast-paced environment, interact with guests and work as a team. We follow all food health and safety procedures. Starting pay is based on the applicant’s experience. The hours can be adjusted to fit the needs of our Centre and the cook. There is a possibility of staff housing.
Education and Qualifications- Current criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, prior to start date
- First Aid Certificate
- Food Safe
Work conditions- A full-time or part-time seasonal position
- Minimum 2 years professional kitchen experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):- Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment
- Prepare either continental breakfast, lunch/dessert, dinner/dessert as scheduled
- Ensure special dietary meals are prepared with care and consideration
- Inspect and ensure kitchen and food areas and always maintain a standard of cleanliness
- Support other areas of the kitchen as required
