Barley & Rye is a small kitchen located inside East Van Brewing. We serve sandwiches, snacks, and simple comfort food to brewery guests in a relaxed but busy environment.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking, stays organized under pressure, and takes pride in putting out consistently good food.

This role is a mix of kitchen work and light customer interaction, so being friendly and comfortable working in an open environment is important.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and cook menu items during service
• Complete basic prep tasks and keep your station organized
• Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards
• Answer simple menu questions from guests when needed
• Work with the team to keep service running smoothly during busy periods

Schedule

We are hiring someone who can reliably work the following shifts:

• Mondays (solo kitchen shift)
• Fridays
• Saturdays
• Sundays (solo kitchen shift)

You must be comfortable running the kitchen independently on Mondays and Sundays.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous kitchen or restaurant experience preferred
• Strong basic cooking and knife skills
• Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working in a small kitchen
• Reliable and able to work the schedule listed above

Work Eligibility (Please Read)

Applicants must currently be living in Canada and legally able to work here.

If you hold a temporary work permit, it must have at least one year remaining.
