Director, Project Controls

Aecon is seeking a Director of Project Controls for a major heavy civil infrastructure project in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes and Barrie regions. The project includes earthworks, foundation and concrete construction, buildings, and supporting infrastructure, and is being delivered through an Aecon-led joint venture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and govern the Project Controls Plan and establish project cost structures, schedules, baseline estimates, and performance curves.
• Lead and support project controls specialists across cost, scheduling, risk, and reporting.
• Oversee cost and schedule variance analysis, explain root causes, and recommend mitigation plans.
• Maintain work, cost, and risk breakdown structures aligned with contractual deliverables.
• Manage progress measurement, earned value, field data collection, performance indicators, and project changes.
• Lead project risk management and integrate risk analysis into forecasts.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and executive performance reports and maintain data quality in Primavera P6, SAP, InEight, Excel, and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline.
• At least 15 years of total experience, including 7 years in project controls on large-scale heavy civil, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
• Experience managing or supervising large project controls teams and working across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory), SAP, InEight, advanced Excel, and Power BI.
