DRIVE SUPPORT WORKER for ATHABASCA and AREA

About the position:Drive support workers provide transportation to vulnerable children, youth and adults with mental health disorders to support the family/youth to address needs that have brought them to the attention of Children’s Services through access to family visitation, and other needs. Workers support access visitation between children and their families or extended families, maintaining connection of youth to their families and community.
Hours: Variety of casual hours; flexibility is required as hours will include days, evenings, and weekends. Weekday availability is considered an asset.
Location: Athabasca, Alberta.
What you’ll do:- Provide supervision and safe, reliable transportation to children, youth and families
- Promote community inclusion by supporting youth’s pursuit of their interests, activities and community events
- Provide mentorship for youth; modeling and reinforcing appropriate social/daily living skills
- Prevent placement breakdown by reducing stressors on care providers
- Complete accurate, timely, professional documentation
- Crisis management, including a potential exposure to behavioural and medical situations
What you bring:- Completion of High School diploma; Human Services Diploma is an asset. Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth and families
- Equivalencies may be considered
- Security Clearance Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
- Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
- Emergency First Aid-Level C CPR + AED
- Valid Class 5 drivers license, current drivers abstract, and a reliable vehicle are required
- Auto insurance including $2 million third party liability coverage and a 6A endorsement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong counseling, program planning, organization and mediation skills
- Knowledge of family violence is a strong asset
