Position summarySES is looking for an Early Learning Manager. This position will support staff, children and the community through planning and developing age-appropriate programs to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional develop according to Nutsumaat Lelum’s program statement and philosophy.
The position- Implement the NML strategic plan, ensuring alignment with SES’s goals and values.
- Foster a trauma-informed, supportive learning environment that meets a child’s academic and emotional needs.
- Lead the implementation of the Early Learning Framework and Action Plan
- Ensure efficient operations of the site, managing daily activities and resources to support an optimal learning environment.
- Responsible for compliance with Child Care Licensing Regulations in BC
- Ensure that center facilities and programming are safe for children and respect the rights of all children.
- Manage and oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of childcare centers, including helping to cover staff absences.
- Coordinates the support services for children with Special Needs, this includes discussion with parents, referrals to support services, follow-up and ongoing support.
- Ensure programs follow the Coast Salish Cultural calendar and are inclusive of the Hulquminum language
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with early learning community groups, support agencies, licensing bodies and organizations
- Consults with other agencies, professionals, community support services and Early Intervention Services as required
- Responsible for performance management, training and professional development to staff members as required
- Address work related issues and concerns of NML staff
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, Elders, and community members, encouraging them to be active participants in the school community.
- Work with community early learning partners in collaboration with Education Director
- Completing or assisting in the completion of funding applications upon request
- Prepares and submit quarterly reports on the development of Childcare for appropriate funding agencies
- Conducts regular staff meetings
- Coordinate and implement emergency plan for facility, children and staff
- Additional tasks assigned by Education Director or designate
What you bring- Degree/Diploma in Early Childhood Education would be preferred
- Current registration with the BC Early Childhood Educators if ECE qualified
- Minimum five years of experience in childcare or a related field, including knowledge of techniques for typically developing children as well as children with special needs.
- Experience in a K-12 Educational setting would be an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of the BC Early Years Framework and childcare licensing regulations
- Experience managing childcare centers would be an asset.
- Experience in leading and supervising staff
- Demonstrated superior organizational, management, leadership, communication and human relations skills
- Working knowledge of office procedures and standard office equipment including personal computers and office software.
- Ability to understand basic accounting and financial functions to manage budgets
- Valid First Aid certificate as required by Childcare Licensing
- Able to lift and/or move between 10 pounds up to 30 pounds.
- Able to pass a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
