HCOS Education Assistants are independent contractors who provide program support, behaviour and academic interventions, and encouragement to Home Learners within the Inclusive Education Department.
We are seeking a dynamic Education Assistant to work with students in our Vernon Community Connections classroom. Additional opportunities to support students in their family home may be available. This is a part-time contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skillsets.

- Grades: 4/5 class
- Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:15am - 2:15pm
As the Education Assistant, your duties and responsibilities will include:- Supporting the social, spiritual, and academic learning needs of students, providing mentorship to the whole person
- Differentiating learning based on student ability and learning styles
- Collaborating with the Teacher and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities
- Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:- Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth
- Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc.)
- A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset
- Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade levels or willingness to learn

- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.97-$28.13 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
