ABOUT THE ROLEAmrize Nanaimo, operating in the Nanaimo area is currently seeking applications for an experienced full-time seasonal Heavy Equipment Operator. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will maintain the operation of the equipment on a daily basis. Reporting to the Foreperson, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be required to inspect, maintain and operate the piece of equipment you operate.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH- Safely operate and maneuver heavy machinery according to project requirements.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition, reporting any defects or malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to accurately and efficiently complete assigned tasks.
- Excavate, grade, and level construction sites, roadways, and other areas using heavy equipment to prepare for construction activities.
- Load and unload materials, debris, or equipment using appropriate machinery, ensuring proper weight distribution and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate work schedules and ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor and assess environmental conditions and terrain to adjust equipment operation as necessary to maintain safety and productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including equipment usage, fuel consumption, and work performed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOREducation: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Extensive knowledge and experience operating various types of heavy machinery, with a strong understanding of their functions and capabilities.
