This position is based in Steinbach, but travel to schools throughout the Division is required.
The person is responsible for a wide variety of duties in support of the Hanover School Division Maintenance Dept. This includes general duties to the upkeep of the HSD facilities. This job description includes the major areas of responsibility; duties may be added or deleted by the Director of Facilities as required. Hours of work are established by the Director of Facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist trades in the performance of their day to day functions
- Minor repairs of building and grounds
- Operate and maintain divisional equipment and vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and machinery
- Perform safety checks on all school gymnasiums
- Perform playground safety checks
- Can involve evening and weekend work
- Backup to custodial staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:- Direct work experience in a custodial or warehouse environment preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently in a time sensitive environment
- Strong customer service and attention to detail in all areas of work
- Flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
