- be legally entitled to work in Canada
- be a current student; starting work within six months of graduation; or returning to school in September
- must live in Ontario during their work placement

Position SummaryThe Facilities Support – Summer Student, supports the Facilities team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across FNTI facilities, with a primary focus on cleaning, painting, and refreshing residence spaces during summer downtime.
The student will work closely with Facilities staff and FNTI employees and will report directly to the Facilities Manager. When residence renewal work is complete, the student will assist in other areas of the Indigenous Learning Centre (ILC) to support daily operations and provide coverage that allows full-time Facilities staff to take scheduled leave.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general cleaning duties, including disinfecting communal spaces, restocking supplies, and removing waste and recyclables
- Assist with maintenance tasks such as painting, basic repairs, or minor upkeep
- Support physical tasks including moving furniture, setting up or tearing down event spaces, and organizing storage areas
- Help with facility upkeep, including room setups and equipment support as directed
- Maintain washrooms, kitchens, and common areas by cleaning, sanitizing, and replenishing supplies
- Clean windows, doors, walls, and floors, including vacuuming, mopping, and surface cleaning
- Remove debris, gravel, and other materials from walkways, stairways, and entrances
- Respond to staff requests and assist with preparing facilities for daily operations
- Follow all health and safety procedures, and report hazards or maintenance concerns promptly
- Provide additional support to the Facilities team to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors
Qualifications- Previous experience in facilities, custodial, or maintenance work is an asset
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving furniture, and painting
- Reliable, flexible, and available on an on-call basis, as required
