The OpportunityAn opportunity exists for a dedicated professional to join a support team as a Family Assistant. This role is designed for an individual committed to enhancing the quality of life for a man in Oshawa, by coordinating his support network and fostering his active participation in the community. The focus is on identifying individual strengths and building meaningful social roles that allow his talents to be recognized and valued by those around him.
Key Responsibilities- Team Coordination: Lead and coach a team of supporters to ensure consistent implementation of daily plans. This includes organizing team meetings, managing schedules, and providing ongoing updates to the team.
- Adaptive Communication: Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in recognizing capacity and needs in individuals who communicate through methods other than words. This involves observation and the use of intuitive strategies to ensure the individual’s preferences are prioritized.
- Community Integration: Facilitate opportunities for this person to develop valued social roles within the community. The goal is to move beyond mere presence toward authentic participation and contribution in local settings.
- Administrative Management: Maintain and update ongoing dynamic health and life records. Ensure all data tracking is accurate and completed by supporting staff.
- Recruitment and Orientation: Assist the family in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members who align with the underlying principles of inclusion and social role valorization.
- Direct Support: Provide direct assistance as needed, adhering to the established guidelines and family directives.
Qualifications and Values- Experience: Direct support experience, professional or personal. (Min 2 Years)
