The Opportunity:We are recruiting a Family Support and Education Clinician (1st Step Team)
This is a regular part-time role to fill an existing vacancy (28 hours per week between the hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with some evening hours to meet group facilitation needs) based at 80 Waterloo Avenue Guelph.
The Family Support and Education Clinician provides education, guidance, and support to families of individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The role focuses on enhancing understanding of psychosis, including its biological and social impacts, treatment approaches, and recovery pathways, while supporting families to effectively contribute to their loved one’s recovery.
Working collaboratively with families and the interdisciplinary First Step team, the clinician assesses strengths and needs, supports skill development, and co-develops practical plans that promote recovery, stability, and overall family well-being. The role also emphasizes system navigation, coordination of services, and maintaining strong partnerships across the agency and community. This position reports to the Manager, First Step.
Key ResponsibilitiesConsultation & Education- Provide consultation and support to healthcare providers, social service agencies, and families to enhance their capacity to support individuals experiencing psychosis.
- Deliver education to service providers, families, and the broader community on psychosis, treatment, and recovery.
- Initiate and coordinate referrals to internal and external services, ranging from self-help to specialized clinical supports.
- Collaborate with the First Step team to provide expertise on family support and education.
Treatment & Service Delivery- Deliver individual and group-based psychoeducation to families.
- Engage and coordinate community services, resources, and natural supports to strengthen care plans.
- Partner with families to identify strengths, build skills, and implement strategies that support recovery.
- Gather and incorporate client and family feedback to evaluate and improve service effectiveness.
