About AtlohsaAtlohsa Family Healing Services is an Indigenous led non-profit organization in Southwestern Ontario dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities through traditional and land-based healing practices. Since 1986, we have provided low-barrier, wraparound services to individuals and families facing complex challenges such as mental wellness, substance use, homelessness, and domestic violence. About the RoleReporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant is an integral member of the finance team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.
This role is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely and compliant payment processing.
The Finance Assistant works closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including customers, donors, and vendors, to ensure financial accuracy and strong working relationships. Responsibilities include recording and reconciling payments, processing invoices, assisting with cheque runs and electronic fund transfers, and supporting monthly reconciliations.
In addition to transactional duties, the Finance Assistant contributes to improving financial processes, maintaining organized records, and ensuring adherence to Atlohsa’s financial policies and procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.
Aligned with Atlohsa’s mission and values, the Finance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the organization’s ability to deliver impactful, community-centered services.
Suitability- Diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
- Experience in processing invoices and financial transactions.
- Experience in completing monthly reconciliations of vendor accounts and corporate credit cards
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail for accurate financial data processing.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records in electronic and paper-based systems.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct..
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to receive training support, supervision, and direction.
- Integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Compassionate, patient, and personable nature with excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the languages, traditional ways, history and cultures of the Indigenous populations in the London region.
- Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerationally.
- Willingness to participate in Indigenous cultural training and/or ceremony.
