Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Manager to support our growing group of small companies and oversee financial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. This role requires strong expertise in accounting software and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations & Oversight- Supervise daily accounting functions across multiple companies, including AP, AR, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure timely month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and ensure consistency of chart‑of‑accounts across entities.
Financial Reporting- Prepare consolidated and entity‑level financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to support leadership decision‑making.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across all companies.
Budgeting & Forecasting- Lead annual budgeting cycles and quarterly reforecasts.
- Work with department leads to track performance against budget and identify risks or opportunities.
- Support financial modeling for new projects, expansions, or acquisitions.
Compliance & Controls- Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and documentation across all companies.
- Ensure compliance with CRA requirements, GST filings, payroll remittances, and other statutory obligations.
- Coordinate with external accountants for year‑end reviews or audits.
Systems & Process Improvement- Optimize accounting workflows and implement scalable processes as the business grows.
- Support system upgrades, integrations, or transitions (e.g., accounting software, POS, payroll systems).
- Standardize financial procedures across all entities.
Leadership & Collaboration- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff or bookkeepers.
- Work closely with operations, HR, and leadership teams to support cross‑functional initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic planning and operational decisions.
Qualifications- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally in a multi‑entity or small‑business environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and full‑cycle accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with data.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with non‑finance stakeholders.
