Under the direction of the Finance Manager, this role manages the complete accounting cycle, employee compensation, and all required financial and regulatory reporting for both union and non-union environments. A key responsibility is the deployment and upkeep of designated software platforms. The role ensures the accurate and timely execution of the organization's accounting and financial reporting activities, as well as administrative tasks and daily operational requirements. This position provides expertise and support to fellow team members and senior management on topics related to operational finance, software utilization, and assigned projects. The role involves coaching and developing direct reports in areas such as excellent service delivery, achieving team targets, and fostering a supportive and developmental team culture.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:- Prepare regular financial and statistical reports for internal teams and leadership.
- Develop financial budgets and forecasts, providing clear explanations of variances.
- Reconcile, review, and monitor operational expenditures, generating reports against budget allocations as required.
- Collaborate with the Quality and Performance department to integrate statistical data for program analysis.
Compensation and Benefits Administration:- Work with payroll systems and support to streamline compensation processes.
- Partner with Human Resources to develop comprehensive reports on workforce utilization.
- Manage annual reconciliations for time off, year-end adjustments, and tax documentation.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments for statutory deductions, employee benefits, and taxes.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, oversee bi-weekly payroll administration and reporting, and process deductions as needed.
- Monitor payroll system records for accuracy.
Financial Control and Compliance:- Prepare bi-weekly cash flow projections to mitigate financial risks.
- Manage the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and complete financial statements.
- Review account and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain donation records and issue charitable receipts.
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit.
- Assist with maintaining and implementing accreditation standards relevant to the role and organization.
Skills and Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field is essential. A Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
- A minimum of eight 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary, preferably within a non-profit setting and with a strong focus on financial operations and payroll management.
- Demonstrated understanding of Information Technology and systems operations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and ADP is expected, with experience in Microsoft Great Plains considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential.
- Commitment to ensuring the integrity and security of all accounting practices within an Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Ability to respond to ad-hoc data and report requests with competence and flexibility.
