We’re looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Finance Team Lead to support the day-to-day execution of our accounting operations and help drive accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting work with team leadership and operational support. Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Team Lead plays a key role in coordinating month-end activities, supporting transactional accounting functions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems and processes.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead and support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team, including coaching, prioritizing workloads, and providing day-to-day guidance
- Coordinate month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, prepaid expenses, payroll, and WCB-related entries
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions
- Maintain fixed asset accounting and capital project tracking, including additions, disposals, write-offs, and depreciation
- Maintain debt and lease schedules, including related payments and reporting requirements
- Prepare and coordinate government filings and remittances, including GST/HST, provincial sales taxes, Statistics Canada reporting, and other compliance-related submissions
- Coordinate payroll submissions through a third-party provider and support employee payroll inquiries and discrepancy resolution
- Support internal and external reporting requirements, including month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit support, and lender reporting
- Assist with annual financial statement preparation and audit requirements
- Support insurance renewals and other finance-related initiatives as needed
- Act as a key resource for finance systems, including ERP upgrades, conversions, and process improvement initiatives
What You Bring- University degree or college diploma in Accounting
- 4–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Currently working toward a CPA designation
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles under ASPE
- Experience with financial and cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, Intercompany accounting, payroll and cost allocation, fixed assets and depreciation, and consolidations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, charts, and data analysis
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience mentoring or leading junior accounting staff is considered an asset
- Experience in a multi-site, multi-entity environment is considered an asset
- Experience with NetSuite and SharePoint is considered an asset
