OverviewWe are seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated team member to join our restaurant as a Food Service Counter Attendant / Cook. This hybrid role combines customer service, food preparation, and line cooking responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, detail-focused, and able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Front Counter- Greet customers and take orders using POS systems
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Upsell menu items and ensure a positive guest experience
- Communicate orders clearly to the kitchen team
Food Preparation & Cooking- Prepare and cook menu items (stir-fries, soups, side items) according to standards
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines from the Prep Manual
- Ensure all food is properly stored, labeled, and handled safely
- Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and portion control
Line Operations & Coordination- Read and manage orders from the printer (chits)
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely order completion (target ticket times under 10 minutes)
- Assist across different stations (prep, fryer, handout) as needed
- Monitor equipment (woks, fryers, soup heaters) and report issues
Stocking & Setup- Set up and restock line, steam table, fridge, and walk-in areas
- Ensure all utensils, dishware, and supplies are fully stocked
- Prepare ingredients according to par levels
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
Cleanliness & Food Safety- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Clean and sanitize equipment, surfaces, and work areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Assist with dishwashing, garbage removal, and weekly cleaning tasks
Closing Duties- Dismantle and clean equipment
- Store and label food properly
- Ensure the kitchen and line are clean and ready for the next day
Skills & Qualifications- Previous experience in food service, cooking, or restaurant environments preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Basic cooking and food preparation knowledge
- Familiarity with POS systems is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Good time management and multitasking abilities
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Wok or line cooking experience is an asset
