The OpportunityThe Employment and Education Worker will play a crucial role in delivering youth employment and education services to youth age 15-24 in our community. The Employment and Education Worker engages in a variety of settings, including outreach, drop in, develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and revise individualized case planning for at-risk youth experiencing significant barriers to employment, education, or training. The Employment and Education Worker will build and maintain relationships with employer partners and work directly with young people who experience barriers to employment to take steps towards their employment and education goals. The position functions as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.

Some Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Providing direct client services in all aspects of the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model.
- Work with clients to develop viable work, education or training plans to meet clearly defined employment or education goals.
- Provides individualized support services to a caseload of youth including intake & assessment, goal-setting, active job or education search, outreach & community-based exploration, and post-placement support and follow-up.
- Gathers information relevant to participant’s strengths, needs and abilities by interviewing, observing behavior, meeting with caregivers and service providers using a variety of inventories, checklists, and questionnaires.
- Provides support, guidance and problem solving to participants to address issues related to barriers to employment in an individual or group setting using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation through a strength based approach and psycho-educational education methods that will resolve the identified needs and risks.
- Provide drop in Employment Supports at Foundry Langley one shift per week and as needed.
- Work effectively as part of the integrated Foundry team and other relevant services and supports.
- Work with employers to find employment opportunities for clients, and to provide ongoing employment support as needed to achieve a successful job placement.
- Works with schools, educational institutes, or training programs to find relevant education or training opportunities for clients, and to provide ongoing education support as needed to achieve successful education or training placements.
- Build partnerships with other employment and education services that would allow for opportunities that meet clients’ unique needs.
- Plan and develop activities and events that increases awareness of the Foundry Langley Work & Education Program.
- Develops and implements short-term, issue specific intervention plans within program guidelines in consultation with the supervisor that will help youth transition to independence, increase employability skills and reduce barriers to vocational services that will increase confidence, self-esteem, health, personal life skills, improved communication and pro-social behavior.
