Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Gas Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
The Gas Technician will play a vital role in providing reliable gas services to our clients while adhering to all safety regulations and operational procedures. Gas Technician will be operating the service vehicle in accordance with Company vehicle practices to protect, health, safety and the environment and to minimize repair and maintenance costs. To provide efficient, courteous customer service. Additional tasks and duties not identified may be assigned.
Responsibilities- Install, inspect, and repair gas lines, meters, and appliances in residential and commercial settings
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of gas systems to ensure optimal performance
- Identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions promptly
- Perform pressure tests and leak detection procedures using specialized equipment
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections, and repairs for compliance purposes
- Adhere to all safety standards, codes, and regulations related to gas systems
- Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Respond to emergency calls for gas related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Prepare reports for supervisors or clients as needed.
- Conduct pre-trip inspection (PTI), report deficiencies and to carry a copy of the PTI in the delivery vehicle.
- Carry all documentation in vehicle required by any government legislation or regulation at all times
- Maintain a clean and orderly service vehicle on a daily basis.
- Operate the service vehicle in such a manner as to minimize repair and maintenance costs.
- Work with the dispatcher to provide exceptional customer service.
- Resolve, when appropriate, customer concerns, issues, and complaints in a timely, fair and reasonable manner.
- Be cooperative and work as a team member with other staff.
- When required, follow Company procedures with regard to sales of heating equipment, from initial contact, to proposal, to installation.
- Will be required to work on call rotation.
Qualifications- Valid Gas Technician G1 or G2 with LP endorsement will be considered.
- Knowledge of local codes, safety standards, and regulations governing gas installations and repairs
- Previous experience as a Gas/Oil Technician or in a similar role.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex gas system issues
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members effectively
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and specialized equipment.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various work sites.
- Successful completion of Company or legislated training.
- Ability and willingness to comply with well-defined policies, procedures, legislation and regulations.
- Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG) and WHMIS required.
Working Conditions - Occasional requirement for outside work in inclement weather.
