Role PurposeSupport exploration, construction, and operations to achieve company’s safety objectives, and adhere to corporate policies approved by the Board of Directors (BOD). This role is a member of the Site Leadership Team, reports to the VP, Coffee.
Role Accountabilities- Provide visible leadership to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate with senior leadership in establishing and demonstrating Fuerte’s vision, values, and commitment to responsible development.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Fuerte’s Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) aligned with Yukon legislation, federal requirements, and recognized industry standards.
- Interface with regulators, inspectors, and auditors as required.
- Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and contractor safety plans.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans covering medical, fire, evacuation, environmental, and security-related incidents.
- Facilitate and oversee risk management planning.
- Develop and oversee health and safety training programs, including site inductions and leadership training.
- Takes personal accountability for health and safety performance and outcomes.
- Applies sound, risk-based judgment in complex and high-pressure situations.
- Encourages open reporting of hazards, incidents, and near misses without fear of reprisal.
Qualifications:- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in mining, construction, or heavy industry.
- First Line Supervisor Certificate is an asset
- First aid certification is an asset
- Mine Rescue and Emergency Response is an asset
Work Location & Conditions:- Remote based role with a preference for Yukon based candidates
- Standard 5-day work week with frequent travel to the Coffee site which could include weekends from time to time
- Periodic travel to and across the Yukon and Vancouver required
- Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs on a regular basis
Expected Compensation$120,000 - $160,000 – Dependant on experience
