The RoleAs a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a key role in site preparation and project execution. You will operate excavators and skid steers to support a variety of construction projects, working closely with a skilled crew that values teamwork, efficiency, and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of WorkDaily Start-Up & Safety- Clock in at the yard when operating a company work truck
- Complete pre-trip inspections for work trucks
- Perform daily inspections on assigned equipment
- Participate in FLHA / toolbox safety meetings and complete required safety documentation
- Typical start time: 6:45 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Job Site Operations- Safely and efficiently operate compact excavators and skid steers (Bobcat-style equipment)
- Slab-on-grade preparation, including accurate grading and backfilling around infrastructure
- Excavation and earthmoving in tight or constrained job sites
- Shotcrete removal for envelope tie-ins and repair work
- Anchor removal and detention
- Snow removal and salting during winter months
- Work collaboratively with crew members and site supervisors
Documentation & Communication- Upload job-site photos to JobTread with detailed descriptions
- Communicate progress, issues, or delays to supervisors
Equipment Maintenance- Fuel and grease machines daily
- Grease work truck weekly
- Report maintenance or mechanical issues promptly
End-of-Day & Administrative Tasks- Complete daily slips signed by supervisor
- Review upcoming work and confirm requirements
- Upload Visa receipts into Dext
Equipment FocusWe primarily use compact Bobcat and smaller-sized equipment for versatility, precision, and minimal site disruption across urban and large-scale job sites.
Qualifications & Requirements- Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators and skid steers
- Minimum 3 years’ construction experience
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (air brakes an asset)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work throughout the Lower Mainland
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends
- On-site training may be considered for the right candidate
(Note: Forklift certification alone does not qualify.)
