Are you a Heavy Equipment Technician, 2nd Year Apprentice who enjoys solving puzzles, tracing problems, and creating solutions? This position will provide support and expertise working on industry-leading equipment. You will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting. SMS Equipment is looking for knowledgeable Heavy Equipment Technician, 2nd Year Apprentice to join our highly skilled team at our Elkford, BC branch. Base Wage: $36.62 per hour. Additional premiums apply.
Location: Elkford, BC. Housing is available.
Schedule: 7x7
What You’ll Do- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment
- Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
- Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
- Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
- Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role
What You BringWe’re looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and safety-first mindset. Successful candidates will have:
- 2nd year apprentice status in the Heavy Equipment Technician trade.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and a commitment to safe, high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in both team and customer-facing settings
- Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
