SMS Equipment is currently recruiting a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our Shovel team in Fort Hills, AB. In this role, you'll troubleshoot, prioritize safety, and work on some of the largest, most advanced earthmoving equipment in the industry. You'll be in the field, keeping machines—and the industries they power—moving.
The shifts available for this position are 7x7. Flights and accommodation are available.
Base Wage: $65.65
Location: Fort Hills, AB

What You'll Do- Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on heavy equipment, including shovels, in the field.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
- Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
- Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
- Work remotely in adverse weather conditions. Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required.
What You Bring- Heavy Equipment Technician with Journeyperson certification
- Experience with Shovels is required.
- Strong commitment to safety
- Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Some positions may require the ability to travel and meet customer site requirements
- Experience with Komatsu heavy equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, dozers etc. is considered an asset
- Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license
