Title: Indigenous Support WorkerStart Date: ImmediatePosition Type: PermanentPosition Open To: Internal & External ApplicantsPosting Overview:Reporting to the Secondary Principal, the Indigenous Support Worker will primarily assist Indigenous students to reach their maximum educational potential, provide and promote Indigenous Cultural Heritage programs and services at all levels of the educational system and provide in-school and out-of-school cultural heritage programs and learning activities for students. The position will instill pride of Indigenous people, culture, and history to the students of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation which will enhance their future academic goals.

Qualifications/Experience:- Completion of a college or university program in a related field is required;
- Successful experience working in a field related to or with local Indigenous communities is an asset.

- A high degree of initiative and self-direction;
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work in a group setting;
- Advocacy skills to support student needs;
- Good interpersonal skills in order to interact positively with students, parents and school staff while displaying professionalism at all times;
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Human Right's Code, Child and Welfare Act and L.K.D.S.B. Safe Schools Policy;
- All duties are as assigned by the Principal.
Position Effective Date & Length:This position will be located at Great Lakes Secondary School.
Non-Union, Permanent, 12-month, 35 hours/week
Level 1 - $58,585/annum - $65,094/annum
