Position SummaryThe Instructor, Indigenous Education is responsible for the respectful delivery, facilitation, and evaluation of Indigenous‑led, distinctions‑based, non-credit learning experience at North Island College, aligned to Working Together: North Island College’s Indigenization Plan (2021–2026). This role is grounded in relationships with Indigenous Nations whose territories the college operates on and upholds the protocols, teachings, and curriculum integrity co-developed with those Nations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and the Indigenous Education Council (IEC).
The instructor will facilitate Journeying to Reconciliation (a mandatory institutional learning experience delivered in Brightspace) and support the delivery of local First Nations digital core-competency modules. This role is a relational, protocol-based facilitation role situated outside of for-credit instruction and focused on carrying out responsibilities entrusted by community.
The position collaborates closely with NIC Elders in Residence, Knowledge Keepers, the Indigenous Education Facilitator, the IEC, and other partners to ensure the delivery remains Indigenous-led, trauma-aware, antiracist, and accessible—and that feedback loops remain accountable to community. The ideal candidate will have an established relationship with at least one of the Nations whose modules are being delivered, and will be able to uphold the cultural, political, and ethical obligations that this trust entails.
The course will be delivered in an asynchronous, digital learning environment.
