OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our Managed Service Provider technology team. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and support to end-users, ensuring smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems. You would work onsite at two client locations in Edmonton (West and Southwest Edmonton) with pre-scheduled site visits for full days to either location. Most work will be performed on the phone managing tickets phoned or emailed in.
Duties- Provide first-line support for desktop, laptop, and mobile device issues via help desk channels.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware problems related to computers, peripherals, and network equipment.
- Assist users with software troubleshooting
- Configure and support VPN connections to ensure secure remote access.
- Assist with the setup and deployment of new hardware and software.
- Document technical procedures and solutions for future reference.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security protocols and firewall configurations.
- Communicate effectively with end-users to provide clear guidance and support during technical issues.
Skills- Experience or education for supporting computer hardware components such as desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Proficiency with software troubleshooting techniques for common applications like Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with network concepts including LAN setup, VPN configuration, and basic routing principles.
- Experience using service management tools
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals including firewall management and secure remote access solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Knowledge of operating system updates, patches, and security best practices.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high customer service standards.
