Job OverviewFinn Construction Ltd. is seeking a Certified Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Truck & Transport Mechanic to join our team just outside Saskatoon (near the Corman Park/Vanscoy boundary). This role is primarily shop-based.
The primary focus of this role is the inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial trucks and trailers, including the completion of SGI Safety Inspections. Experience with heavy construction equipment is a strong asset, as our fleet also includes a wide range of earthworks and road-building equipment.
Equipment may include (but is not limited to): semi-trucks and trailers, tandem dump trucks and water trucks; as well as excavators, dozers, graders, skid steers, loaders, rollers/packers, scrapers, and related support and specialty equipment. (Full list available upon request.)
Key Responsibilities- Perform SGI Safety Inspections on trucks and trailers (as an SGI-authorized inspection technician).
- Work largely independently in a quiet shop environment, with field staff coming and going.
- Maintain, repair, and service commercial trucks and trailers.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty and light equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel system issues.
- Maintain service records, track parts usage, manage inventory, and order parts as needed.
- Oversee and support an apprentice, where applicable.
- Assist with general shop upkeep and organization.
- Work primarily independently, with occasional apprentice supervision.
Qualifications- Journeyperson Truck & Transport Mechanic Certificate (recognized in Saskatchewan).
- SGI-authorized inspection technician for commercial trucks and trailers, or eligible and willing to obtain authorization.
- Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience with heavy construction equipment is a strong asset.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under time pressure.
- Comfortable with computerized maintenance systems and basic inventory tracking.
- Valid driver’s license; Class 1A is an asset.
- Ability to commute to the shop (approx. 5 km outside Saskatoon).
What We OfferCompetitive wage: CA$35.00–$52.00/hr depending on experience and certifications.
