Learning Specialist – Faculty II

Responsibilities:
The Learning Specialist will support students by assessing individual learning and instructional needs to ensure an effective learning environment for DTI students; offer a wide range of appropriate interventions and work closely with the instructors, program support facilitators, and program coordinators to provide guidance in a variety of areas, including teaching strategies and instructional skill development to effectively create an inclusive learning environment with appropriate assessment and evaluation to meet students’ unique requirements; observe, interview and utilize other applicable resources to establish effective individual learning plans for DTI students. Referrals for external student assessments may be necessary. The incumbent will work in consultation with internal and external resources to enhance educational resources, accommodations and adaptations.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in education or educational psychology. Candidates with one year of post-graduate education in educational psychology, special education, or learning disability strategies will be given priority; A minimum of two years of experience in the field of adult education, with a specific focus on learning interventions and learning disability support; Effective communication and interpersonal skills, dedication and passion to work with individuals with special learning needs, coupled with a broad knowledge of development and teaching methods; Contribute and support an environment that values the beliefs, needs and contributions of a culturally diverse community; Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and organizations would be an asset; Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license, as the role involves frequent community-based travel.
Remuneration:
$72,038 – $94,798 plus benefits package.
