JOB OVERVIEWAs a Maintenance Assistant at Harbour City Kitchens, your primary responsibility will be to support the maintenance team with general cleaning, opening of the shop, organization, and basic maintenance tasks. You will help ensure the workspace and production equipment are clean, safe, and ready for use. This is an entry level position, ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in an industrial maintenance role.
Responsibilities and Duties- Assist in routine preventative maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Opening the shop and starting equipment to assist production.
- Receiving stock and maintaining receiving records / programs using TracManager.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist with repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow the preventative maintenance and cleaning schedule under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Observe equipment operation to detect potential hazards or issues and report to senior team members as needed.
- Support the production team with various tasks and jobs.
- During downtime you may assist the production department with building cabinets.
- Participate in maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and ensure smooth production support.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety.
- Work safely and follow all company safety protocols and practices.
- Be willing to learn new skills and receive guidance from experienced team members and supervisors.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and ensure exceptional results.
- Operate the forklift and assist with receiving material and inputting material information into the TLF.
- Operate machinery and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role is an asset.
- Experience with hand tools and shop equipment (welders, drills, metal cutting tools, etc.).
- Commitment to safety protocols and knowledge of industry-specific safety regulations.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and digital technology an asset.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems is an asset.
- Forklift and scissor lift experience.
- Receiving experience.
Additional Information:- This is an opening shift as is Monday to Friday from 4:30 am to 1:00 pm. You will work alongside two other maintenance /production team members.
