Salary range for the position is $108,147 to $155,461. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How will you make an impact?The Manager, People Safety and Prevention (Manager) - Regional Programs is a key member of the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) leadership team and provides strategic regional leadership for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs. The Manager leads workplace safety and prevention efforts in partnership with regional and program leaders, driving targeted improvement initiatives that address high-risk areas, recurring issues, and strengthen a proactive safety culture.
The Manager supports the organization in reducing risk by closing system-level gaps and promoting consistent, accountable, and forward-looking safety practices, moving beyond compliance toward sustained safety excellence. The Manager translates legislative, collectively bargained, and ministry directed requirements into practical policies, tools, and processes; advances safety governance; and collaborates with regional and provincial leaders to enhance health and safety management systems and improve outcomes across all areas of responsibility.
Additionally, this role will provide leadership to a team of WHS professionals, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers team members to make informed decisions, perform at a high level, and confidently take on new challenges.
What will you work on?- Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Monitors organizational compliance with OHS legislation, collective agreements, ministry directives, accreditation, policies, and procedures, and assist with audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
- Responsible for overseeing and maintaining safety risk registers and supports the identification, assessment, and mitigation of workplace hazards.
- Develops and reports on OHS training and role-based competency requirements to ensure alignment with the organizational goals and standards.
Applies data-driven insights to inform strategy and accelerate innovation.
Oversees tracking, analyzing, and reporting on workplace safety performance indicators and support continuous improvement initiatives of WHS workplace performance and its alignment with IH’s strategic goals and directives.
Leads enterprise risk management and regional safety strategy, proactively identifying, mitigating, and reducing high-priority risks through cross-functional leadership engagement and workforce partnership.
Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leaders, providing expert guidance on occupational health and safety matters to strengthen decision-making, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation practices.
