Job OverviewI am seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Medical Office Assistant for my orthopedic sports medicine practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support in a busy medical environment. This role involves managing patient interactions, maintaining electronic medical records, and ensuring smooth daily operations, including management of clinic and operative days. Prior experience as a Medical Office Assistant is necessary, and prior experience in a specialist/surgeon office is preferred. The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care through efficient front desk management and administrative tasks.
This position will cover an 11-12 month leave for the current Medical Office Assistant. Anticipated dates would be July 2026-July 2027.
Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, creating a welcoming environment
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and document patient interactions using electronic scheduling systems
- Verify patient insurance information and update electronic medical records accurately
- Answer phone calls and voicemails promptly and professionally
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting intake information, booking follow-up appointments, providing pre-operative questionnaires, and providing pre-operative instructions
- Maintain organized patient files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing documentation and processing forms
- Liaise with ambulatory care clinic and operating room booking clerks to coordinate scheduling
- Maintain office email for patient concerns/sending completed forms to patients
- Collecting patient payments when applicable
Skills- Prior medical office experience, including front desk duties and administrative support
- Experience using Accuro EMR would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to healthcare settings
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and providers
- Familiarity with office equipment and basic troubleshooting for common technical issues
