Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support in a busy medical or dental office setting, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role involves managing patient interactions, maintaining electronic medical records, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. Prior experience in medical or dental office environments is preferred, along with proficiency in office software and electronic health record systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and a strong understanding of medical terminology.
Duties- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, creating a welcoming environment
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages
- Verify patient information and update electronic medical records accurately using Epic and Dentrix systems
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting insurance information and payments
- Prepare and organize patient charts and documentation in compliance with privacy regulations
- Coordinate appointment scheduling and follow-up appointments efficiently
- Support clinical staff by handling administrative tasks related to patient care
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area to ensure a professional appearance
- Handle administrative correspondence, including emails, faxes, and mail distribution
Qualifications- Previous experience as a Dental Receptionist or Medical Office Assistant is highly desirable
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems such as PS Suites or Avaros
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
- Office experience with familiarity in front desk operations and multi-line phone systems
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience working in dental or medical offices is preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus
