General Job DescriptionThe Mental Health Counsellor will work within Red Crow Community College, assisting students and staff with Mental Health. Some roles and responsibilities include responding to student inquiries, scheduling appointments, keeping detailed records, developing relationships with other Health Agencies, developing workshops focusing on mental health and other health and wellness topics, case management, and maintaining a secure environment for confidential information and documents. This person must possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. The Mental Health Counsellor must be very organized, have a strong work ethic, be proficient in computer skills with the ability to try new systems, and be willing to learn.
- Assist students with mental health questions, provide information on available/established mental health organization programs both within and outside Red Crow Community College;
- Schedule appointments with students and staff when required.
- Develop relationships with other Health agencies to build a network of support for students.
- Develop workshops focused on Mental Health and other various Health and Wellbeing Topics;
- Assist students with techniques in building and creating a healthy and productive school environment at home.
- Respond to mental health crises, assist in providing and directing students to various health agencies.
- Case management and clinical reports of client information and data.
- File and manage client information and data.
- Work with other departments within Red Crow Community College;
- To respond to requests promptly.
- To maintain confidentiality of information;
- To maintain professional relationships with students, instructors, and members of the Red Crow Community College;
Qualifications- A University degree in Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health or equivalent post-secondary education and experience required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills that include word processing and spreadsheets, the use of a database, web content management system, and other systems that may apply to the educational institution;
