We are on the hunt for an experienced Pump Technician for a Contract role at a state of the art Mine Facility located in the Far North (Yukon). This is a fly-in, fly-out facility, which is normally a 2 week on, 2 week off rotation. This work would be maintaining Pumps, Valves, Clarifiers, Waste Collection Systems, Water Treatment Systems. The technician should be able to repair the water pump end as well as service/repair a diesel engine. Pay is $55/hr plus overtime after 8 hours per day ($64.16/hr), regular rotation is 12 hours per day x 14 days. This is a straight night shift assignment, with an additional $1.50/hour night premium. Flights are provided, and camp accommodations are included. This is a seasonal contract position running from early April through late June with the possibility of extension.

Main Accountabilities:- Use mechanical aptitude to repair and assemble pumps
- Experience in reading prints and drawings
- Experience with the proper and safe use of various common power and hand tools needed to assemble rotating equipment
- Follow all routers and assembly procedures needed to accurately repair and assemble pumps
- Inspect and verify quality of finished work with precision measurement tools (i.e. micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc.)
- Conduct low pressure air tests and high pressure hydrostatic tests
- Communicate clearly to peers and supervisors any related job issues
- Utilize cranes, lifting devices, and fork trucks
Main Qualifications:- Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright/Industrial Mechanic certification from an approved educational facility with a minimum of 5 years of experience OR A valid Heavy Equipment Technician License with a minimum of 4 years of experience in repair and service of heavy equipment both in the shop and in the field
- 3+ years experience maintaining, rebuilding and repairing the water pump end.
- Proficient in repairing and servicing diesel engines, light plants, and heaters.
- Knowledge and experience of industry related safe work practices
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Consistently strive for personal and operational improvement including the ability to upgrade required skills and competencies
- Industry related Safety Training
- Experience with the following equipment would be an asset; feeders, conveyors, crushers, ship loaders and pumps.
- Experience with Godwin (CD150M) or Pioneer water pumps
- Proven safety and attendance record
- Willingness and capacity to work in adverse conditions, rotational work and artic environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment, self-starter and self-motivated, capable of working autonomously with minimum supervision and guidance
- Trouble shooting capabilities are an asset
- Capable of functioning within a multidisciplinary team of journeymen
