The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is seeking a dynamic individual as a Musical Education Assistant to support the Musical Creativity department. This is a 12-week role working 35 hours/week with anticipated work dates from June 8 to August 28, 2026.

This position is pending due to approval of government funding. The position requires candidates to meet the following criteria:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work in Alberta and Canada
What you will do:- Assist with Musical Creativity programs including Rusty Musicians (a camp for adult musicians), and Kids’ Summer Camps
- Oversee a specific component of camps with children (ex. activities related to music or a theme)
- Support with administrative tasks for Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta (YONA) including but not limited to updating student database, cataloging of ensemble music, drafting documents and reports
- Assist with Musical Creativity fall planning and preparations including communications and marketing
- Work with diverse people including within a team and participants that may be children
Qualifications:- Student in or graduate of a College, University or Institute program where curriculum includes music, education, communications, or other relevant topics
- Ability to play an instrument is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence and comfort around working with children
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Enjoy working with people and have the compassion, patience, professionalism, and follow-through to provide outstanding customer care
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with many details and being organized and able to prioritize work
- Positive attitude, and willingness to be flexible and adaptable
- Energetic and able to contribute well within a team environment, as well as functioning independently when necessary
- Takes initiative and demonstrates proactiveness
- Able to work evening and weekends when required
- Police Records Check
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
Hourly Wage:$19/hour
